Nin Yoga began in September 2017, when I (Annika 👋) decided it was time to stop hiring the local neighbourhood centre to host yoga classes and take a bold leap—I signed a lease for my very own commercial space on Queen Street.

To be honest, I never imagined outgrowing the Colyton Neighbourhood Centre. But our classes were filling up, and deep down, I knew the next step was coming… even if it scared me. Who was I to open a “real” bricks-and-mortar business? I just loved teaching yoga and bringing people together.

But as it often does, the universe delivered—an affordable little brick shopfront became available on Queen Street, and I jumped at the chance. I signed the lease, rolled out a schedule, and got to work.

All I needed was a name.

I figured it had to be something deep, meaningful, and spiritual, right?
Well… I didn’t have time for all that. My high school nickname was “Nin,” and I figured I could change it later. (Spoiler: I never did. I was too busy painting walls and laying floors.)

And that’s how Nin Yoga was born.

What started as a simple yoga offering has grown into so much more—a warm, welcoming space where people from all walks of life come exactly as they are. A space for movement, for breath, for joy, for connection.

Today, Nin Yoga offers not just yoga (its still our fav tho!), but aerial yoga, lyra, reformer pilates, workshops, teacher trainings, and a whole lot of heart.
