what will we get up to?
Below is a list of all the things we will get up to.
Please note that it is ALL OPTIONAL. If you want to lie in a hammock for three days overlooking the mountains and the bush with your favourite book, or sit in the hot tub till you are an actual prune, we support that too. You do you.
-
Cacao Ceremony
Join Jennifer Lorena for a heart-opening Cacao Ceremony — a sacred and nurturing ritual that invites stillness, presence, and connection.
Using ceremonial-grade cacao, this experience weaves together gentle guidance, intention setting, and sound to help you soften into the heart space. As you sip the warm cacao, you’ll be guided through meditation, reflection, and a collective sharing circle designed to open pathways of gratitude, creativity, and compassion.
Cacao has long been used in traditional cultures as a plant medicine for awakening the heart and deepening connection — both inwardly and with community. Jennifer’s ceremony offers a safe, grounded, and soulful space to rest, release, and receive.
-
Yin Yoga & Sound Journey
Settle into deep rest with a Yin Yoga and Sound Journey guided by Annika Saigi and accompanied by the soothing soundscapes of Jennifer Lorena from Asana Flow Holistics.
Annika will guide you through a slow, grounding Yin practice — a series of long-held, floor-based postures designed to release tension, open the body, and invite stillness. As you soften into each shape, Jennifer will weave a meditative sound journey using instruments such as crystal bowls, chimes, and drum to deepen your relaxation and support energetic balance.
This class offers the perfect harmony of movement and vibration — a space to restore your body, calm your mind, and reconnect with your inner quiet.
-
Morning Vinyasa
Start your day with an uplifting Morning Vinyasa Yoga practice guided by Karen Gruber. This gentle yet energising flow will awaken your body, steady your mind, and help you connect with your breath as the valley comes to life around you.
Karen’s teaching style is warm, supportive, and mindful — blending strength, balance, and softness to create a practice that meets you exactly where you are. With options for all levels, this class invites you to move with intention, open your heart, and carry a sense of clarity and calm into the rest of your day.
-
Welcome to Country & Smoking Ceremony
We are deeply honoured to begin our retreat with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony led by Uncle Col and Aunty Lully, respected Elders of the Darkinjung people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Yanada stands.
This sacred ceremony offers a moment of grounding and gratitude — an invitation to acknowledge Country, connect with the spirit of the land, and pay respect to the Elders past and present. Through story, smoke, and song, Uncle Col and Aunty Lily will guide us into a deeper awareness of place, reminding us that healing begins with connection — to the earth, to each other, and to the cultures that have cared for this land for tens of thousands of years.
-
bush walk & cultural connection
Join Uncle Col and Aunty Lully, local Darkinjung Elders, for a guided Bush Walk and Cultural Connection through the surrounding lands of Yanada.
As we move gently through Country, you’ll be invited to see the land through an Indigenous lens — learning about native plants, their traditional uses, and the deep cultural stories that live within the landscape.
This walk is an opportunity to slow down, listen, and connect — to the land, to culture, and to the wisdom carried by the Elders who have walked here for generations. It’s a grounding and humbling experience that reminds us of the living spirit of Country and our shared responsibility to care for it.
-
Winter Solstice Ceremony
As the longest night of the year arrives, we gather in ceremony with Jennifer Lorena from Asana Flow Holistics to honour the Winter Solstice — a sacred moment that invites reflection, release, and renewal.
This immersive evening experience includes a drum journey, guided ritual, breathwork, and meditation, all designed to help you let go of what no longer serves and call in what you wish to nurture in the months ahead.
Held under the night sky and around the warmth of the fire, Jennifer will guide you through practices that connect you to the wisdom of nature’s cycles and the light that lives within.
A grounding, heart-opening experience to honour the turning of the season and welcome the slow return of the sun.
-
Watercolour Meditation
Led by Karen Gruber, this gentle creative workshop blends mindfulness and art as a way to slow down, reconnect, and express what words cannot.
Through simple watercolour techniques and guided reflection, you’ll explore the flow of colour, breath, and emotion — using brushstrokes as a moving meditation. No artistic experience is needed; this practice is about presence, not perfection.
Karen invites you to let intuition lead, allowing shapes and colours to emerge naturally as you connect with the calm, fluid nature of water — a symbol of emotion, adaptability, and release.
You’ll leave feeling grounded, centred, and quietly inspired, carrying a tangible piece of your inner landscape home with you.
-
Headstand Workshop
Guided by Annika Saigi, this playful and empowering workshop explores the art of the headstand (Sirsasana) — not just as a pose, but as a practice in trust, focus, and balance.
Together we’ll break down the foundations of inversion: alignment, shoulder and core engagement, and safe entry and exit techniques. You’ll learn variations and use props to build confidence at your own pace — whether you’re taking your first steps toward lifting off, or refining your balance and control.
More than a physical skill, this workshop invites you to shift perspective — to explore what it means to find steadiness when the world is upside down.
All levels welcome; no prior inversion experience required.
-
Kayaking on the River
Take time to explore the calm waters that wind through the valley surrounding Yanada with a peaceful kayaking session, available as an optional activity during the retreat.
The kayaks are borrowed from our local Darkinjung Elders, who generously share access to this part of Country so we can experience its beauty with respect and care. Paddling along the river offers a gentle way to connect with the land, the elements, and the stillness of nature.
Kayak hire is $20 per person, payable on-site (not included in the retreat price). All equipment is provided, and no experience is necessary — simply bring your curiosity and a sense of adventure.
The solstice marks the longest night and the return of the light — a time for reflection, renewal, and planting seeds of intention.
