Two wolves
An old Cherokee chief once told his grandson a story…
“A fight is going on inside me,” he said.
“A fight between two wolves.
One is evil – full of anger, sorrow, regret, greed, self-pity and false pride.
The other is good – full of joy, peace, love, humility, kindness and faith.”
“This same fight is going on inside of you… and inside every person.”
The grandson asked, “Which wolf will win?”
The chief replied, “The one you feed.”
I personally adore this story. Owning these studios for nearly eight years and hearing everyone's stories is a constant reminder that we all have things going on in the background.
I’ve felt both wolves too (or in my own interpretation, snakes, hence the two-headed one on my left forearm, and also cause I think snakes are so dang beautiful).
I've fed both of these heads over the years too.
There’s always been two sides to many of us right? — light and shadow, fire and calm, softness and resistance.
Yin Yoga and meditation helped me learn how to sit with both of these sides.
To slow down.
To be with discomfort instead of reacting to it.
To feed the part of me that brings presence, patience, and peace.
And now, we get to pass that on.
