joy and crows

Votes are in for our August book club pick and I'm delighted to let you know we're reading "The Book of Delights" by Ross Gay.

This will be our third book club meet up, and a recurring theme has started to emerge in the books we've been drawn to.

We keep coming back to
JOY.

It's not that these books shy away from weighty themes or serious topics—they definitely don't. In fact, I think our conversations are all the richer for how beautifully they fluctuate between light-hearted reflection and deeply meaningful insights.

What these books consistently encourage, though, is a profound sense of presence. They remind us to pay attention, to truly notice what's around us, and to actively seek out those small moments that bring a genuine smile to our faces.

Inspired by Ross Gay's approach in "The Book of Delights", a few of us have actually started recording our own daily personal delights. And I have to tell you, once I began keeping a list in my notes, actively looking for those sweet or funny or truly joyous moments, it's incredible just how many I started to find.

Just in the past few days, my own list has included:

☕️My wife bringing me a warm cup of tea in bed.

🧡Watching my cousin, who I used to babysit, playing so gently and thoughtfully with my toddler.

🧣The crows in our backyard, stealing fluff from a forgotten scarf on the clothesline—I know their nest will be so cosy now.

It's a simple practice, but it shifts your perspective in such a beautiful way.

Whether you've been with us before or this is your first time, we'd absolutely love for you to join us for our next book club.

We're meeting on Sunday 17 August at the St Marys studio from 4-5.30pm. As always, it's totally free to join and book online.

And if you're keen to join our WhatsApp group chat, just reply to this email and we'll add you in!

With love,

Samantha

P.S Yin Yoga & Meditation Teacher Training begins THIS FRIDAY, and will continue every Friday 6pm -9pm for 13 weeks in total. No need to want to teach, just a keen-ness to have a sit and reflect in a group setting.

P.P.S Prefer to fill your social media feed with something other than a random couple you don't even know, who work at a company you have never heard of, having an affair at a Coldplay concert? We have a private Facebook group with pre-recorded classes, discussions and connections for the community, and we would love to have you there.
