five things

I wanted to write about anxiety… but I felt too anxious to start. My mind chatter spiralled with doubts about whether I was “qualified” to talk about it. With space and perspective, I remembered that experiencing anxiety is exactly why I can speak on it — honestly, and from the heart. Here are two simple practices that have been helping me soften the noise and come back to myself.

later never comes

We’ve just graduated over 100 new yoga teachers — all with completely different life stories. Some work full-time, some are parents, some live interstate or travel constantly, and one of our youngest graduates is just 15. Another is 72.

Every one of them could’ve said, “I’ll do it later.” But they didn’t. Because later never comes.

Our teacher training programs are built for real life — flexible schedules, hybrid online/in-studio learning, and payment plans that make it possible now.

If you’ve been waiting for the “perfect time,” this is your sign: it doesn’t exist.

Reformer Pilates Teacher Training begins 25 Oct.
Yoga Teacher Training begins 4 Nov.

Start now. You’ll thank yourself later — or better yet, you won’t have to.

the only constant

After five years in a casual job I didn’t truly need, I finally let it go — and realised I’d been holding onto a safety blanket long after I’d outgrown it. Looking back through my calendar showed me how far I’ve come, and how clinging to the past can keep us from stepping fully into the life we’ve already built. Letting go created space, clarity, and a reminder that the only constant in life is change.

mounty food court

Growing up in Western Sydney shaped so much of who I am, which is why I love celebrating the stories and communities that make this place home. Our book club is currently reading “Dirt Poor Islanders” by local author Winnie Dunn — a powerful novel set in Mt Druitt that explores culture, identity, and connection. Join us this Sunday at St Marys for book club (even if you haven’t read the book!) and spend time with the Nin Yoga community.

This is a comprehensive, heart-led training designed to give you the very best from leaders in their fields.

what are the lessons?

It’s easy to say, “You’ll learn yoga in teacher training.” But what does that actually include?

Our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training goes far beyond poses. You’ll explore yoga philosophy, anatomy, meditation, pranayama, sequencing, trauma-informed teaching, Ayurveda, and even the business skills needed to thrive after graduation. Designed for real, busy humans, this six-month journey is about more than becoming a teacher — it’s about deepening your practice, finding your voice, and learning how to hold space with confidence and integrity.

just for now

You know, that moment at the end of your yoga class when your body finally sinks into the mat. You've moved and breathed, stretched and twisted, and your teacher finalllllly tells you to prepare for savasana.

our story

Eight years ago, if you had told me our little Western Sydney studio would be running multiple teacher trainings each year, I would have laughed in disbelief.

Yoga began over 5,000 years ago in ancient India as a spiritual practice to calm the fluctuations of the mind and connect body, mind and spirit. Somehow, through a leap of faith, a one-way ticket to India, a few more trainings, and a whole lot of community building, that ancient lineage has found a home here in the West.

What started in a local neighbourhood centre quickly outgrew its walls and became our St Marys studio — now celebrating its 8th birthday — and eventually evolved into what we now call Kaya Academy.

that sounds like a good day

“There are many elements of living a good life, but the first and most foundational is to love yourself and enjoy spending time with yourself.”

When I read this quote from James Clear, I immediately thought of yoga.

Every time you step onto your mat, you’re practising being with yourself — your breath, your body, your thoughts. Over time, that quiet self-reflection turns into comfort. Ease. A sense of feeling at home within your own skin. And when you feel at ease within, every other space somehow feels bigger and brighter too.

but i cant even touch my toes

When I enrolled in my first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Goa back in 2016, I couldn’t even touch my toes.

I’d only taken four yoga classes. I wasn’t “spiritual.” I felt lost. But something in my gut said yes.

That one decision changed everything.

Teacher training isn’t about being the most flexible or waking up at 4:30am to meditate. It’s about curiosity, courage, and a willingness to meet yourself honestly. Years later, after returning to learn again and again, we’re now bringing that same opportunity to Western Sydney — with 200-hour Reformer Pilates, 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga, and 50-hour Yin & Meditation trainings.

You don’t need to be ready.
You just need to be open.

aerial reading lounge?

Libraries were my childhood sanctuary — peaceful, quiet spaces humming with unspoken community.

That same feeling has inspired our new Aerial Reading Lounge at Nin Yoga St Marys.

For two blissful hours, the studio transforms into a silent haven where you can curl up in an aerial sling or build a cosy bolster nest on the floor, tea in hand, book (or audiobook) ready. It’s the perfect blend of solitude and shared space — together, yet on your own private adventure.

Dragons optional. Relaxation guaranteed.

want to really learn something?

“The person who learns the most in any classroom is the teacher.” — James Clear

This is exactly what we witness in every teacher training.

It’s not just about learning exercises or sequencing. It’s about embodying the work, practising it, and stepping into the role of the teacher — because that’s where the deepest growth happens.

If you’ve been craving the next level in your Pilates journey, our 150-hour Reformer Pilates Teacher Training begins October 25, 2026. Study with our experienced faculty, work through a 500+ page manual, and immerse yourself in a truly transformational experience.

Early bird pricing ends this weekend — and it’s only available to our newsletter community.
